P516, Reserve Training Complex
Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton
Oceanside, CA
This design-build project consisted of two buildings, a Reserve Training Complex (RTC) and a Tactical Vehicle Maintenance Facility (TVMF). The Reserve Training Center is a two story ADA compliant facility. It serves approximately 125 active duty Marines on a daily basis and 450 Reservists for one weekend per month. In addition, the building is used by a variety of community groups. The RTC is constructed of reinforced concrete masonry. The exterior finish is a combination of sealed split-face and smooth-face concrete masonry units, and a pre-finished standing seam metal roof. An exterior colonnade surrounds the building with reinforced masonry arches. The first floor includes the main entrance/lobby with Duty Officer area, multi-purpose room, training and classrooms, office/administration areas, restrooms, showers/lockers areas and warehouse storage areas.
The Tactical Vehicle Maintenance Facility (TVMF) consists of a Vehicle Maintenance Building with a two-story office, armory vault and a separate vehicle wash rack. The wash rack serves as a dual purpose elevated wash area and loading/unloading concrete platform. The TVMF walls are constructed of reinforced concrete masonry and are seismically separated from the internal armory vault. The exterior finish is a combination of sealed split-face and smooth-face concrete masonry units and a pre-finished standing seam metal roof with skylights for natural lighting. The TVMF includes four high-bay vehicle maintenance areas separated by a two-story office/administration area. The administration area contains offices, men/women restrooms, shower/lockers, training rooms, parts storage area, dispatch offices, break room and mechanical and electrical services rooms. A one-hour fire rated separation shall be constructed between occupancies that occur between the two-story administration area and the high-bay vehicle maintenance areas.
